Pönttöuuni / Fireplace

Pönttöuuni valmistui putken muotoisesta Lidlin suklaakonvehti-paketista, villalangasta, paksusta kankaasta ja pahvista. Sitten vaan runsaasti liimaa ja maalia. En ole tähän oikein tyytyväinen. Kunhan saan talon koottua, pitää katsoa kelpaako se sinne vai jaksanko yrittää uudestaan.

This isn't a fireplace exactly. I couldn't find a word for "pönttöuuni" in english. I only found this definition: "brick stove covered with sheet metal". It is used for heating. 
I made this from a tube shaped chocolate box, fabric, thread, cardboard, glue and paint. I'm not quite happy with it. After I put the house back together, I will decide if this is good enough, or if will I try again.

Kynttilöitä / Candles

Väkersin erilaisia kynttilänjalkoja rautalangasta, liimasta ja korun osista. En olisi aiemmin uskonut että kärsivällisyyteni riittää tällaiseen, liimaa on kyllä enemmän käsissä kuin tuotoksissa.
Kynttilät tein synttärikakun kynttilöistä. Dippasin ne kuumaan veteen, että pintakuviointi lähti ja ohenivat hieman.

I made candle holders out of wire, glue and jewellery parts. I never would have thought I have the patience for something like this. There is more glue on my hands than in the stuff I made though. 
The candles I made from birthday cake candles. I dipped them in hot water to smooth them out and make them slimmer.

Maalattu mattamustalla emalimaalilla. / Painted with matt black enamel paint.

Kattokruunu olohuoneeseen. / Chandelier for the living room.

Kappas, muistin laittaa jotakin mittakaavaksi. / I finally remembered to put something in there for scale.

Etummaiset on tehty nepparin osista. / Two in the front are made from press stud parts.

Seinäkiinnikkeinä neodymium magneetteja. / Neodymium magnets as wall fasteners.

Kellarin ovi / Cellar door

Portaiden alla oli käyttämätön tila ja halusin hyödyntää sen jotenkin. Piti siis tehdä ovi ja vaikka talossa ei kellaria olekaan, niin päätin silti, että se on kellarin ovi.

There was an unused space under the stairs and I wanted to make use of it. I needed to make a door and I decided that it is a cellar door, even if the house doesn't have a cellar. 

Portaiden alapuoli tulee näkymään yläreunasta, mutta ei ovi pienempikään voi olla.  / The underside of the stairs will be visible, but the doot can't be any smaller.

Mies joutui taas osallistumaan. / My husband had to participate again.

Vinossa, mutta valmis. / Crooked but finished.

Hyllyjä / shelves

Kokeilin tehdä hyllyjä kuuluisista Bilteman sytyketikuista. Mies sahasi ja auttoi paljon muussakin. Meillä ei oikein ole kunnollisia välineitä tällaiseen. Pienempi seinälle ripustettava hylly onnistui paremmin, mutta isomman liimasin aika vinksalleen. Maalasin molemmat mustalla akryylimaalilla.

I tried making shelves out of the famous (at least in Finland) Biltema´s tindersticks. These are very popular for making dollhouse stuff here. My husband sawed and helped a lot with these. We don't really have the proper tools for this. The smaller shelf came out better, but I glued the bigger one all wonky. I painted both with black acrylic paint. 

Nojatuoli / Armchair

Törmäsin ohjeeseen, jossa tehtiin sohva pahvista, liimasta ja kankaasta. Halusin nojatuolin joten oli pakko kokeilla mitä saisin aikaiseksi. Liiman kanssa tuli sotattua, mutta muuten tuosta tuli yllättävän hieno.

I found a tutorial on how to make a sofa out of cardboard, glue and fabric. I wanted an armchair, so I had to try it out. I made a mess with the glue, but otherwise it turned out surprisingly good.

Väri on luonnossa vähän tummempi. / The color is a bit darker in nature.

Kirjoja / Books

Koska on mukavampi näpertää pikkujuttuja kuin aloittaa itse remonttia, tein kirjoja. Niistä tuli kulahtaneen näköisiä, mutta sehän sopii tähän taloon.

Because it is more fun to do little stuff, than start the renovation, I made tiny books. They came out looking worn, but that will be fine in this house.

 Helppo ja nopea tapa tehdä kirjahyllyyn täytettä: Printtasin kirjan kansia, liimasin ne pahvin reunaan ja leikkasin irti. Aion tehdä joskus vielä ihan avattaviakin kirjoja näiden seuraksi.

Quick and easy way to fill your bookshelf: I printed some book covers, glued them on the edge of cardboard and cut out. I am planning to make books with real pages too sometime.
